I believe ancient history should be accessible and enjoyable for everyone to read. That’s why I started Ancient History Press, to reveal the fascinating and enjoyable range of topics across the Ancient World to the general reader.
Too much of this content is locked up by academic publishers, who are stuck in outdated models of publishing. This results in short print runs that see books go out of print and only available in paperback or hardback at ridiculous second-hand prices. Or else who otherwise restrict access to digital content and over-charge for ebooks, and so think nothing of charging $150 for an ebook the actual writers barely get any royalties from.
Publishing knowledge should be about making it available for everyone, not restricting it to elite academia.
I have therefore set up the following mission statement for Ancient History Press:

Ancient History Press exists to bring the ancient world to life for everyone.
We publish engaging, carefully edited books that make the best of modern historical scholarship accessible to general readers—without the barriers of high prices, limited availability, or overly specialized language.
Our mission is to produce works that are affordable, readable, and enduring: books that open the richness of ancient history to curious minds everywhere, and that remain available for generations to come.
Through rigorous editorial standards and a deep respect for the work of historians, archaeologists, and classicists, we aim to create a library of ancient history for all.
